*For the past few years now
I have used any
camera at hand
to capture these words.
Some of them already
part of the city,
other live undercover
covered
by posters
that aren't
but a splint for its walls.
Each of them part of my everyday
all of them speaking
out, at once...
Repeated
repetitively
selling out their products
services or warehouses businesses,
unable to recall their own goal,
their rhyme or their meaning...
The senses' sunset flooding the streets
and consonant over vowel,
caught by the Media, rampant,
we wander the cities avoiding
the words and their significance.
Trapped
under this semantical fire that already seems familiar,
we want to see,
but not knowing
where to stand
we just blink.
I am a Spanish philologist and throughout my career, I have worked as a writer and an editor for a variety of media forms and industries in Venezuela, the UK and Spain.
After finishing my MA at Salford University and returning to Madrid, I started developing Ideovisual* a study on words and their lost meaning in this age of read and forget...
Besides my collage series, here you can find other poetry series and objects that are the result of Ideovisual's transformations.
